POSITION SUMMARY: Republic Services is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual who has strong financial, technical business acumen and interpersonal skills along with a desire to advance in a successful and rapidly growing corporate strategy (M&A) business development group. The Corporate Strategy (M&A) Sr. Analyst reports to the Director, Business Development. The role will be responsible for supporting corporate strategy and business development initiatives. Primary duties include economic and valuation work, assessing new markets/trends and evaluating new business opportunities as well as potential acquisition targets. Ultimately, you will be crafting and presenting your analysis and perspectives to internal and external teams as well as senior and executive management.

This position will initially be remote until the Corporate Headquarters office re-opens in the future. Ultimately, the position will be based in Phoenix, Arizona where you will be working with our dedicated team of professionals focused on expanding our business through M&A and strategic partnerships.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides financial valuation support for acquisitions and organic investment opportunities through creation of dynamic models.

  • Support and creates presentations and memoranda for a wider audience within the organization including senior Leadership and the Board of Directors as well as external stakeholders

  • Maintains business acquisition pipeline and ensures valuation templates are updated, accurate and timely.

  • Works with various departments and senior leadership to support transaction negotiations and synthesize due diligence findings.

  • Creates strategic market planning and implementation across the organization.

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of model templates, valuation policies and procedures, and due diligence work programs.

  • Develops and maintains department databases to track transactions, projects and key industry contacts

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in finance, engineering, economics, accounting and/or related role– investment banking, private equity, corporate/business development, corporate strategy, transaction diligence, asset management or management consulting.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and database management skills (e.g. Salesforce).

  • Proven knowledge of corporate finance including valuation and financial analysis.

  • Ability to apply the concepts, principles, and procedures of accounting and finance to business development initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fact paced, dynamic team environment and react to shifting priorities and changing timelines.

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Business Administration (MBA) or other professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Professional Engineer (PE) or similar is considered a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field of study.

  • Minimum three years of work experience in finance, engineering, economics, accounting and/or related role - investment banking, private equity, corporate/business development, corporate strategy, treasury, transaction diligence, asset management or management consulting.
