The Sr. Enterprise Operations Monitoring Engineer is responsible for supporting the monitoring infrastructure and maintaining system management event monitoring capabilities. The Sr. Enterprise Operations Monitoring Engineer also ensures that the monitoring infrastructure is compliant with service specifications and integrates the necessary functionalities to monitor the quality services offered by Republic Services. The Sr. Engineer should be able to solution monitoring designs at the OSI layers as well as comprehend and create schemas. The Sr. Enterprise Operations Monitoring Engineer works in cooperation with technical and operational staff to ensure that monitoring capabilities are conformal with operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Designs and implements the Republic Services Systems Management Monitoring solution.
Participates in all phases of the systems implementation process, ensuring new systems and services are durable, scalable and compliant with RSI standards.
Oversees the health of the monitoring environment by keeping current with upgrades and patches and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with associated tools.
Writes scripts (shell, bash, pearl, etc.) to execute monitoring tasks that are out of scope (but within the capabilities of the monitoring systems).
Creates orchestration processes and solutions.
Serves as subject matter expert in tools using logging, real user monitoring and network performance monitoring.
Mentors junior level technical staff within the functional monitoring area of the IT organization.
Leads troubleshooting, analysis and solution of unexpected systems behaviors that impact the quality of service.
Develops, implements and executes test plans for new and existing features.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related degree or 8 years working experience.
Advanced level experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, SCOM or other like platforms.
Experience with ServiceNow.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation v3 Certification.
Experience with transactional monitoring.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Enterprise Systems tools like Splunk/SolarWinds (Required).
Minimum of 3 years’ IT engineering experience (Required).
Minimum of 3 years’ enterprise experience providing hardware or software support in a corporate IT environment (Required).
Design and implementation of monitoring tools in enterprise level environments.
