POSITION SUMMARY:

The Closed Site Field Project Manager is responsible for driving operational performance at the Company’s closed landfills by interfacing with local teams to implement budgeted activities and drive key initiatives to reduce costs. These innovation projects will reduce annual and long term spend and facilitate site exit from post closure. This includes working with the Closed Site Program Director to develop strategies around the reductions. This role also includes direct communication with Area Environmental Managers, Area Directors of Operations Support, and Environmental Managers to execute these activities.

The Closed Site Field Project Manager is also responsible for assisting local teams with the regulatory and public meetings for permit modifications for closed site exit from post closure programs.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports Environmental Manager (EM) management of construction projects for closed sites, including ROI calculations, scheduling/ timeline, management of third-party CQA and contractors, and resource and material coordination.

  • Supports EM preparation of ongoing post-closure budgets; maintains financial responsibility for construction development, closure/post-closure, engineering, operations and cost tracking.

  • Coordinates completion of permit applications and designs, including regulatory interface, site expansion, modification or changes to the post closure plan application and other related data.

  • Assists EM with preparation of notifications/ responses to regulatory inspections and administrative warnings.

  • Participates in review of targeted disposition/acquisitions, including Phase I assessment/ property survey, coordination, engineering review of design and operations, and pro-form modeling assistance.

  • Performs on-going public relations activities through communication with corporate office, regulatory agency representatives, and third-party consultants.

  • Completes monthly project tracking reports and other status reports.

  • Supports Environmental Managers to develop opportunities for reductions at closed sites, scheduling meetings with regulators, directing consultants, managing metric performance and other closed site related issues.

  • Attends regulatory meetings for special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Engineering/science relate field.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization and with external customers, vendors and government agency representatives.

  • Strong customer services skills to support internal stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills and a focus on adding value to the Company.

  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize many projects and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in waste industry or related environmental field.
