POSITION SUMMARY: The Industrial In-Plant Services Manager plans, coordinates and supervises all on location activities related to the implementation and execution of industrial plant events. This generally includes coordination for waste collection, disposal, dispatch and or other operations work for events of medium to large scope, generating revenue and supervising staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides on-site supervision of employees performing waste collection, disposal, dispatch and/or other operations related work.

  • Reviews all paperwork to ensure that compliance and proper approvals have been obtained in order to receive/transport waste, including manifests.

  • Identifies and implements procedures regarding unusual operational needs, non-scheduled service requests, equipment breakdowns and scheduling change issues.

  • Ensures all invoices have properly funded PO #s listed and works with site management to specify any billing needs required. Communicates billing needs to the accounting management and/or designated personnel.

  • Develops schedule for drivers (needed staff) to include work assignments and monitors progress to improve proficiencies.

  • Continuously monitors and conducts employee observations to ensure safety and productivity procedures are being achieved. Takes action as appropriate.

  • Manages and tracks rental equipment within specific plant assigned, to include timely delivery of equipment.

  • Tracks all washout requests and performs and/or manages the return of boxes at approved sites.

  • Prepares and presents detailed tracking reports for equipment, disposal, weights, volumes, rental boxes, portable toilets and POs to appropriate management (General Manager, Operations, Controller).

  • Attends plant meetings with plant personnel to evaluate timing of drivers/staff and equipment needs, as well as, build relationships with plant personnel.

  • Collaborates and works cooperatively with industrial sales team members to ensure smooth operations and client relationships.

  • Conducts box inventories, waste audits and site audits in order to improve operational efficiencies.

  • Attends trade shows, identifying and developing relationships with contractors that perform work within the specific plant assigned.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Class B or higher CDL with air brakes endorsements.

  • Knowledge of the petrochemical industry.

  • Experience coordinating and leading large scale distribution, transportation or construction operations.

  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other regulations related to commercial driving and waste collection.

  • Communication – Provides needed information. Listens to and understands others. Conveys information in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Customer Service – Within reason, does what it takes to meet and exceed expectations of customers. Acts professional, courteous and cooperative manner towards customers and co-workers.

  • Dependability – Is someone supervisors and co-workers can count on. Follows through and does what he/she says he/she will do.

  • Ethics – Adheres to the policies and rules set forth by Republic Services. Does not bend the rules or cut corners. Accepts his/her role when asked to do something. Is trustworthy and honest.

  • Planning – Develops schedules that make efficient use of employee time and Allied Waste.

  • Foresees equipment and scheduling problems and works proactively to prevent them.

  • Results Orientation – Appropriately drives self and employees to achieve productivity goals. Figures out how to overcome problems.

  • Safety Orientation – Follows and promotes Republic Services’ safety rules and procedures. Sets and example for safe work behavior. Requires customers, collection crews and coworkers to follow safety precautions. Does not take inappropriate risks.

  • Supervising Others – Sets clear and challenging goals for employees. Addresses performance problems as needed. Builds positive working relationships with his/her employees.

  • Construction or project management experience.

  • Supervisory or lead experience.

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training certificate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

  • Minimum of 2 years of distribution, transportation operations or construction operations experience.
